According to International Press Institute (IPI), this figure marks a steep increase from the total 45 journalists killed in 2021. Spiraling attacks against journalists in Mexico as well as Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine were leading factors behind the rise in journalist killings. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Hiraben (99) passed away at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday. She was admitted to Ahmedabad’s U N Mehta Hospital on Wednesday morning. The Bihar Police on Thursday detained a suspected Chinese woman from Bodh Gaya for allegedly spying on Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. She is under police custody and is being interrogated, informed ADG JS Gangwar.
