Guwahati-based Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) has expressed concern over the sudden closure of city-based satellite news channel DA News Plus from Friday and demanded fair compensations to the employees including scribes.

The affected employees saw a notice on 17 August 2023, where it was stated that the telecast and other related activities will be ceased from next day morning. The notice was signed by  Anirban Das, CMD of AKD Build India Pvt Ltd, Fancy Bazar, Guwahati-781001.

“It’s shocking that a news channel is shut down in a sudden way. The declaration of closure notice has no mention about the legal compensations to its hundreds of employees based in Guwahati and Silchar. The decision shows the unprofessional attitude of the management, and it should not be spared. Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma should intervene over the matter urgently and ensure that the employees get their due compensations,” said JFA president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria.
