While claiming that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre was extending a benefit of Rs 41,000 per acre to the farmers in the form of 90 per cent subsidy on fertilisers and PM Kisan Yojana, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that the TRS government was providing assistance only under Rythu Bandhu and stopped all the other farm subsidies.
Speaking at the BJP Kisan Morcha state executive committee meeting in Hyderabad, he said a bag of urea which costs Rs 3,750, is being supplied to farmer only for Rs 350. Similarly, a bag of DAP fertiliser which costs Rs 4,073 per bag is being provided only for Rs 1,450.
Kisan Morcha national president Raj Kumar Chahal inaugurating the meeting alleged that KCR government is preventing several pro-farmer welfare schemes of Narendra Modi government from benefiting Telangana farmers. He asked Kishan Morcha to fight against KCR’s anti-farmer attitude.
“For every acre, it requires three bags each of urea and DAP. Besides, the Modi government has been providing annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 for each farmer under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Taking into account the subsidy and PM Kisan, the Centre is extending financial assistance of Rs 41,000 to each farmer every year,” Sanjay said.
Sanjay suggested that while reaching out to the farmers, each BJP Kisan Morcha should carry two bags – one each of urea and DAP, and explain them about the welfare being extended by the Modi government. “At the same time, you should also explain how KCR has been hoodwinking the farmers by denying all the other benefits to them on the pretext of Rythu Bandhu assistance,” he said.
The BJP president alleged that KCR had subjected the farmers to innumerable hardships by creating problems in the procurement of paddy and blaming it on the Centre. He alleged that the chief minister, who had announced closing down of paddy procurement centres and stoppage of supplies to the Centre, had taken a U-turn after people suspected a foul play.
“With his inconsistent stand on paddy cultivation, KCR has become a laughing stock in the entire country. He calls upon the farmers to grow fine variety of paddy and the very next day, he warns them against raising the paddy,” he said.
He also accused the chief minister of siphoning off Rs 100 crore sanctioned by the Centre towards soil fertility testing. “We are not against alternative crops. But we won’t keep quiet, if the TRS government continues to trouble farmers without educating them and not conducting soil testing,” he said.
He alleged that KCR had betrayed farmers on crop loan waiver and employees by not paying salaries on time. “On the other hand, he pushed the state into a debt trap. Like in the case of Sri Lanka, this one family rule has ruined the state,” he said.
