Poojya Chinna Jiyar Swamyji given a call to implement the aspirations of Samatamurti Sri Ramanujacharya. Giving his message at the National Conference of Social Leaders, held as part of Sri Ramanujula’s Sahasrabdhi Samaroha, he said that every person will have certain abilities.
However, he suggested that instead of making fun of a person’s shortcomings, his qualities should be put to good use for the good of society. Everyone should be given equal opportunities for the development of qualities and skills, he added.
He said that Samta Murthy Sri Ramanuja is a great social reformer as he renamed the people of the marginalized communities, who were kept away in the name of untouchability, as Haridasas, transformed them and gave them a place of honor in the society!
Despite differences in our abilities, Swamiji exhorted that we all need to work together just like the five fingers of our hand, for the benefit of all.
“We have seen in the schools we run for the tribal boys, belonging to tribal groups living for hundreds of years in the forest area of Adilabad district, that they pass with the best marks when provided with educational opportunities in a good environment!”, he added.
169 delegates from different states participated in the conference. Half of them were SCs and the other half were from different castes.
It has given a call that the Jayanthis of great men who worked for social equality like Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyoti Ba Phule, Sant Ravidas, Valmiki should be celebrated by people from all walks of life.
How to raise, among people who consider themselves as upper castes, awareness about social equality? What is our role in upholding the equal rights provided by the Constitution of India to the lower castes?
