Putting an end to speculations, Telanagana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Sunday that he would soon launch a national political party. “Very soon, the formation of a national party and formulation of its policies will take place,” said an official release issued by Rao’s office.
“There has been a consensus on the alternative national agenda after prolonged discussions with intellectuals, economists and experts from various fields like we did before the start of Telangana movement,” it said.
Earlier, presidents of TRS district units had on Friday called upon known as KCR, to plunge into national politics to put an end to BJP’s alleged anti-people rule at the Centre. Several other TRS leaders, including some state ministers, have also spoken in favour of Rao foraying into the national political scene.
Rao, a staunch critic of the BJP government at the Centre, had recently met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna and called for a “BJP mukt Bharat” (BJP-free India).
In its Foundation Day event in April this year, the TRS had adopted a political resolution resolving that the party should play the key role in national politics for the wider interest of the country as the BJP is exploiting “communal sentiments” for its political convenience.
Rao has met a number of non-BJP, non-Congress opposition leaders, including Nitish Kumar, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray and Hemant Soren and discussed the BJP’s alleged anti-people policies and bringing about a “qualitative change in the country”.
According to TRS sources, some names like ‘Bharat Rashtriya Samiti’ (BRS), ‘Ujwal Bharat Party’ and ‘Naya Bharat Party’ have been discussed for the new outfit.
Meanwhile, Rao has reportedly shifted his focus on contesting elections in other states, especially Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, besides Delhi. He is said to be keen on contesting in Gujarat and Karnataka.
