Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday blasted Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for “indulging in large-scale corruption.”
“There is corruption here while the Centre is pumping funds for the state’s development and welfare of the people,” Shah said at a public meeting at the Visakhapatnam Railway Ground, following up on the attack launched by BJP president J.P. Nadda on Saturday.
The rally was held as a part of the Maha Jan Sankalp Abhiyan to highlight the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government in nine years. Shah the Jagan Mohan Reddy-run government in AP had indulged in corruption during his four-year rule.
“Andhra Pardesh stands third in farmer suicides. The government should feel ashamed of it,’’ Shah said. In a surprise mention of Visakhapatnam, Shah said, “All the antisocial elements made Vizag their adda. There is unabated land grabbing and free flow of drugs and everything is done by the associates of the ruling party,’’ Shah said.
Shah said the Central tax devaluation and grant-in-aid had risen from Rs 78,000 crore till 2014 to Rs 5 lakh crore in nine year of BJP rule. “Is there any development with this money in AP? Where did the money go, “Shah asked, and said these funds disappeared due to corruption in the YSRC government.
The minister also spoke in Vellore in Tamil Nadu, where he took a swipe at the Congress and DMK over dynasty politics and alleged corruption, calling them “2G, 3G, 4G” parties. He said the time had come in Tamil Nadu to throw away parties and give the power to a “son of the soil,” indicating a Tamil Prime Minister.
“Congress and DMK are 2G, 3G, 4G parties. I am not talking about the 2G (spectrum allocation scam). 2G means two generations, 3G means three generations and 4G means four generations,” he said.
“The Maran family (of the DMK) is doing corruption for two generations. The Karunanidhi family is doing corruption for three generations. The Gandhi family is 4G. Rahul Gandhi is the fourth generation and for four generations they are enjoying power,” Shah said.
