Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the center has spent Rs 2.52 lakh crore between 2014-15 and 2021-22 for the development of Telangana state. He attended Telangana formation day celebration in New Delhi, organised by Ministry of Culture on Thursday. He expressed confidence that BJP will win in the next Assembly elections in Telangana and later will officially celebrate Telangana Liberation Day.

On the occasion, Amit Shah congratulated Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy for including Telangana day celebrations into Azadika Amrit Mahotsav and bringing to forefront its culture to the entire nation.

He also added that every state has a culture, a language, a cuisine and despite all these differences there is a soul of India and that soul keeps the India united.

Amit Shah has strongly refuted accusations of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that the center is showing discrimination towards his state. Asserting that no such discrimination is being shown towards any state, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi firmly believes that development of the states will lead to development of the nation,

He recalled that the history of formation of Telengana state has been one of strife.  Union Minister Kishan Reddy said that the Government of India is providing all necessary support to Telangana State and the procurement of paddy from the farmers of Telangana is testimony to this.

He also added that in 2014-2015, MSP value provided to farmers of Telangana was Rs. 3,400 crores. Today after 8 years, MSP value transferred to paddy farmers of Telangana is more than Rs. 26,600 crores which is nearly about 8-fold increase.

The Union Minister further said that Government of India is constructing highways worth more than Rs. 1 Lakh crores in the State of Telangana. This event marked the first time that the Government of India is celebrating ‘Telangana Day’ or ‘Telangana Formation Day’ to ensure that it is commemorated in a befitting manner.

The program aimed to highlight the roots of the land of culture, heritage, architectural magnificence and unsung heroes of India’s youngest state, that is celebrating its eight anniversary this year.

As a part of the program, popular singers from Telangana gave performances. Folk dancers from Telangana and performances by Kathak Kendra Delhi, also showcased the rich cultural heritage of the state.

The state of Telangana was officially formed on 2nd June 2014 and the day is celebrated as ‘Telangana Day’ or ‘Telangana Formation Day’. As this year marks the 75th year of Independence, the Government of India is celebrating and commemorating India’s glorious history, its people, culture and achievements.

The celebrations of AzadiKaAmritMahotsav commenced on 12th March 2021 and started a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of independence. The commemorations will end post a year on 15th August 2023.

Minister of State for External Affairs and CultureSmt. Meenakashi Lekhi and Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal also participated in the event.
