Defence Minitster Rajnath Singh launched ‘Rashtriya Ekta Geet’ composed by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in 22 languages on the theme of National Integration during the grand finale of ‘Vijay Shrankhla aur Sanskrityon ka Mahasangam’ campaign in New Delhi.
The mega event was conducted by NCC as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, which is presently being celebrated to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence. It comprised of honouring and felicitation of bravehearts of 1971 Indo-Pak War at 75 locations across the country under the NCC Vijay Shrankhla including live streaming on the Gallantry Award Portal.
The campaign culminated today with ‘Sanskritiyon ka Maha Sangam’ wherein selected NCC cadets from across the country congregated in Delhi and showcased their shared cultural heritage.
Highlighting the glorious history of NCC, Rajnath Singh said, “NCC has produced a number of stalwarts who have brought glory and laurels to the Nation. Leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, PM Narendra Modi, former External Affairs Minister Smt Sushma Swaraj, former Raksha Mantri Manohar Parrikar, sports personalities like Hima Das, Anjali Bhagwat, world famous cardiologist Dr Naresh Trehan and many others are NCC alumni who have contributed towards Nation building.”
Talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s keen interest in the NCC, he recalled that the Prime Minister recently launched the NCC alumni association.“The Prime Minister is the first member of the NCC alumni association and I am the second. I also see your bright future through hard work and dedication towards the nation,” he added.
Referring to the moto of NCC, ‘Unity and Discipline’, Rajnath Singh said “The NCC develops the virtues of unity, discipline, patience and brotherhood in its cadets and these virtues remain forever with them. That’s why it is said ‘once an NCC cadet is always an NCC cadet’.”
