Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi has been honoured with the highest national awards from 14 countries since 2014, in recognition of his leadership at bilateral, regional, and global levels, according to the Centre. Minister of State for External Affairs Mr V Muraleedharan, responding to a question in the Rajya Sabha, highlighted that Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi also received the United Nation’s highest environmental award in 2018.

The bestowal of the highest awards upon the Prime Minister of India signifies a distinct acknowledgement of his statesmanship and leadership, both at bilateral and global levels, stated Muraleedharan. He emphasized that this recognition reflects India’s standing under his leadership, particularly in advocating for the Global South on the international platform and addressing global challenges through dialogue and diplomacy.

The minister detailed a series of prestigious accolades conferred upon Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi over the years. Muraleedharan additionally highlighted that in June 2019, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi was bestowed with the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin from the Maldives, followed by the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance from Bahrain in August 2019, and the Legion of Merit from the US in December 2020.
