India TV-CNX Survey says OBCs and Dalits prefer Modi as PM

The Bihar government has released the data of the recently conducted caste census in the state ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections. According to the data announced by Development Commissioner Vivek Singh, Bihar’s total population stood at 13.07 crore out of which 36 per cent are Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), 27.13 per cent are Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

Both EBCs and OBCs account for 63 per cent of the state’s total population. The survey also found out that Yadavs, the sub-OBC group, is the largest in terms of population accounting for 14.27 per cent of the total share. The Dalits, which come under Scheduled Castes (SCs), account for 19.65 per cent, and the upper caste comprises of 15.52 per cent.

Post this survey, India TV-CNX conducted an opinion poll to gauge the mood of the OBCs, Dalits, SC-ST voters to predict which leader they would like to see as the next Prime Minister of the country. Let’s take a look:

The majority of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Dalit voters would prefer Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of the country once again while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is a distant second choice, according to India TV-CNX opinion poll.

The survey predicts that 64 per cent of the OBC voters would want Narendra Modi as PM again, while Rahul Gandhi is a distant second choice for them at 15 per cent.

Speaking about Dalits, then according to the survey, 58 per cent of them will prefer Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of the country once again while 20 per cent may choose Rahul Gandhi. 

According to India TV-CNX survey, 70 per cent of Forward Castes voters prefer Narendra Modi as Prime Minister again while Rahul Gandhi is a distant second choice for them at 12 per cent. The survey further predicts that 6 per cent of them would like to see Arvind Kejriwal as PM and only 4 per cent may choose Mamata Banerjee.

Around 52 per cent of Muslim voters prefer Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister of the country, 14 per cent of them are likely to choose Arvind Kejriwal, 8 per cent may go for Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, 5 per cent for AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and 3 per cent would want to see Narendra Modi as their PM, according to the India TV-CNX opinion poll.

The survey predicts that 61 per cent of the voters want Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of the country once again. Among other choices, 21 per cent want Rahul Gandhi, 3 per cent each want Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal, 2 per cent each of them want Nitish Kumar and Mayawati while 6 per cent of them would like to see some other leader as the next PM.
