Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is creating new records of modern infrastructure creation as he inaugurated the Swarved Mahamandir, the world’s largest meditation centre in Varanasi on Monday. The centre can accommodate 20,000 people at a time for meditation.
Addressing at the event, Modi said, “Swarved Mahamandir is a modern symbol of India’s social and spiritual strength. Government, society and Sant Samaj are all working together for the rejuvenation of Kashi.”
He added that India never let material progress become a medium of geographical expansion or exploitation. “We pursued material progress through spiritual and humane symbols”, Modi said.
The prime minister said foreign invaders targeted symbols of India’s faith and criticised the mentality behind “not taking pride in one’s heritage”. “The wheels of time have turned again today and India is taking pride in its heritage and proclaiming freedom from the mentality of slavery”, said Modi. ‘
PM added, “Today, rejuvenation of our ‘teerths’ is taking place and India is creating new records of modern infrastructure creation.”
Citing development in Banaras, Modi said, “Now the meaning of Banaras is -Development, modern facilities along with faith and cleanliness and transformation.” Modi added
