Regarding the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA), Union Minister Shantanu Thakur told when this law will be implemented across the country. The Union Minister has claimed that the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) will be implemented in the country in the next one week.

He said that I am guaranteeing from the stage that in the next 7 days CAA will be implemented not only in Bengal but in the entire country. Shantanu Thakur was giving a speech at a public meeting in Kakdwip of South 24 Parganas.

The CAA law aims to provide fast track citizenship to six communities from three neighboring countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The CAA law has been approved but the rules for implementing it have not been notified yet and according to BJP leader Shantanu Thakur, this could happen in the next week.

BJP Lok Sabha MP from Bangaon, Bengal, Shantanu Thakur has reiterated the views of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his CAA statement. In December last year, Amit Shah had said that the BJP-led central government will implement the CAA and no one can stop it. His remarks were targeted at Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has been opposing the CAA.

During his speech at a large rally at Kolkata’s iconic Esplanade, Amit Shah had launched sharp attacks against Mamata Banerjee on issues of infiltration, corruption, political violence and appeasement and asked the people to remove her government from Bengal and contest the 2026 assembly elections. Was requested to choose BJP. He also clarified on the intended beneficiaries and said that they too have the right to citizenship like anyone else.

Soon after being passed in both Houses of Parliament and receiving Presidential assent in 2019, the CAA has been at the forefront of massive protests across India and the opposition’s strong stand against it. It is in a state of confusion because the Center has not yet made rules for CAA and has not implemented the law.
