National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said his party National Conference will be contesting polls alone in Jammu and Kashmir. A key member of the Opposition’s INDIA bloc, Abdullah is the second leader after AAP to announce that they will be contesting polls alone in their strongholds.

“I think that elections in both states will be held with the Parliamentary elections. As far as seat sharing is concerned, National Conference will contest alone and there’s no doubt about it,” saod Abdullah.

The National Conference leader was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate recently for probe in connection with charges of money laundering in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.

Responding to Abdullah’s comments, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, “Talks are going on. Every party has their own limitations. National Conference and PDP have been a part of the INDIA bloc, and will continue to remain so,” ANI reported.

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee announced that her party would be contesting elections alone in the state. The Aam Aadmi Party, another key member of the Opposition alliance recently announced that it will be contesting polls alone in Punjab and Chandigarh. The party said it wants to contest six out of seven seats in Delhi and was ready to offer one seat to Congress.
