Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday visited Lokhimon Ashram in Dolamara area of  Karbi Anglong district to attend a congregation meeting. Sarma paid a visit to the cemetery of Kurusar Lokhan Engti Hansek, the founder of Lokhimon faith, to  pay rich tributes. Unveiling a statue of the great man, he also laid foundation of the  third temple (Sok-Phe Ah Aklam).

Speaking on the occasion, Sarma stated that Lokhimon faith is based on the tenets of reforms where its founder spread the messages of non-violence, restraint, peace, friendship, faith, devotion and purity.  Lokhimon faith gives the path of nirvana, said Sarma adding that  every religion gives the path of liberation.

Sarma commented that  Kurusar Lokhan Engti Hansek was not only a religious leader, but  also a social reformer who reached the path of self-discipline for Karbi people. He announced Rs 5 crore for the construction of the Lokimon temple. Once its  construction  is completed, the entire Dolamara area will be transformed into a beautiful tourist destination.

Tourists who come to Kaziranga may also come to the area and cherish its scenic & spiritual beauty. He expressed hope that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC ) would take all the ethnic communities on board for their socio-economic-cultural and academic development.

Earlier Sarma  met the heir of Kurusar Lokhan Engti Hansek and offered his respects. State  legislative assembly’s  deputy speaker  Nomal Momin, legislators Darsing Ronghang, Bidyasing Engleng, Rupsing Teron, KAAC chief Tuliram Ronghang, eminent social worker Basistha Bujarborua and a host of dignitaries were present on the occasion.
