The President of the USA, Mr. Joseph R. Biden’s administration, emphasized the significance of the partnership between the United States and India, declaring it one of the most consequential relationships.
This statement came shortly after notifying Congress about the decision to sell 31 armed drones to India, with an estimated cost nearing US$ 4 billion. During a daily news conference, State Department Spokesperson, Mr. Matthew Miller underscored the close collaboration with India on vital priorities, acknowledging the outgoing Indian ambassador, Mr. Taranjit Singh Sandhu, for his contributions, particularly in fostering a free and open Indo-Pacific region that is connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient.
Expressing best wishes for Ambassador Mr. Sandhu’s future endeavors, Mr. Miller highlighted the anticipation of welcoming his successor. In response to queries, he noted the close working relationship between Secretary of State Antony, Mr. Blinken, and his Indian counterpart, Union Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, emphasizing their engagement on urgent and crucial priorities.
Miller elaborated on their meetings in India and during the UN General Assembly in New York, highlighting the commitment to strengthening the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
India’s ambitious plan involves investing US$ 1723.9 billion (Rs. 143 trillion) in infrastructure from FY24 to FY30, focusing on roads, power, and emerging sectors like electric vehicles and renewable energy. The budget sustains accelerated infrastructure growth in 2023, proposing extensive highway construction projects in FY25.
