On November 19, 2023, India’s domestic air traffic touched a record high as airlines carried 456,910 passengers, marking two “consecutive days of historic numbers” in aviation history. Based on official data, the air traffic number reached a record high of 456,748 on November 18, 2023, as well.
“India’s domestic aviation industry has experienced an incredible and motivating comeback after the COVID-19 pandemic. With every flight, every day, it’s reaching new heights thanks to a positive mindset, forward-thinking regulations, and strong passenger trust,” the Civil Aviation Ministry stated in a post on X.
On November 19, 2023, there were 5,958 flight movements and 456,910 domestic air passengers. Comparing the total to the 393,391 passengers and 5,506 flight movements on November 19, 2022, there was a significant difference.
Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Minister of Civil Aviation, shared the record numbers and stated that the nation will undoubtedly become the largest aviation market in the world.
India is the fastest-growing civil aviation market in the world and in October, domestic air passenger traffic increased by almost 11% annually to 1.26 crore. For two days in a row, it was also the highest air traffic post-COVID.
In the meantime, the Mumbai International Airport (CSMIA) informed that it recorded over 4.25 million passengers in October, up 18% over the same month last year. International passengers at CSMIA alone witnessed a strong 20 per cent growth with more than 1.14 million passengers travelling, in comparison to 0.94 million same period last year.
