Delhi Airport achieved a historic milestone on November 28, recording its highest-ever single-day passenger traffic of 221,000, as per the latest data released by GMR Airports. The airport also marked its peak traffic in the first eight months of the financial year at 47.8 million, demonstrating a notable 15% increase compared to the same period between April and November 2022.

In November alone, air passenger traffic experienced a commendable 7% surge, reaching 6.07 million compared to the previous year. However, in comparison to October, the growth in air passenger traffic remained steady. Notably, the data for the fiscal year 2023-24 revealed that Delhi Airport consistently managed nearly 6 million passengers each month.

Indira Gandhi International Airport, overseen by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), is a significant aviation hub. DIAL is primarily owned by the GMR Group, holding a majority stake of 64%, followed by a 26% stake held by the Airports Authority of India.

This accomplishment underscores the airport’s role as a pivotal gateway, with consistent growth trends in passenger traffic, contributing significantly to the aviation sector’s vitality. The resilience and upward trajectory in air travel align with the broader industry’s recovery post-pandemic.

As we look ahead to the latter half of the financial year, Delhi Airport’s remarkable performance sets a positive tone for continued success, reflecting the strategic and operational efficiency maintained by DIAL. The data underscores the airport’s importance in connecting people and businesses, with sustained growth enhancing its standing as a leading aviation hub in the region.
