The Delhi High Court on Monday ruled that TMC Rajya Sabha member Saket Gokhale must pay Rs 50 lakh in damages to Lakshmi Puri, following a defamation case she filed. Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani issued the order, mandating compliance within eight weeks. A court here on Monday sentenced activist Medha Patkar to five months simple imprisonment in a 23-year-old defamation case lodged against her by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena when he headed an NGO in Gujarat. Metropolitan Magistrate Raghav Sharma also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Patkar. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday conducted raids at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri in connection with the Reasi terror attack case.
