The Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday lodged an FIR against the organisers of the religious congregation in Hathras where 121 people died in a stampede, accusing them of hiding evidence and flouting conditions with 2.5 lakh people gathering for the event in which only 80,000 were permitted. A tragic stampede at a religious congregation in Pulrai village, Hathras, on Tuesday claimed the lives of over 110 people and left several others injured, officials reported. The stampede occurred during a ‘satsang’ event, which saw a massive gathering of devotees. “116 people have been confirmed dead. 18 people are injured. A complete ban has been imposed on the use of mobile phones within the premises of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. This restriction, currently being followed by the devotees, will now onwards be in place for the priests as well. Also, a dress code has been introduced for the priests.
