Coal India’s capital expenditure increased by 64.8% to Rs. 3,034 crore (US$ 381.83 million) in the June quarter of FY23, driven by strong spend in acquiring land and strengthening transport infrastructure in its coalfields under first-mile connectivity projects (FMCs). Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said Dwarka Expressway, also known as the Northern Peripheral Road in Haryana portion, is being developed as the first elevated urban expressway in India. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons asking Congress president Sonia Gandhi to depose before it on July 21 for questioning in the National Herald newspaper-linked money-laundering case.
