Atal Pension Yojana (APY), the flagship social security scheme of the Government of India has crossed the landmark 5 crores of enrolments recently, as informed by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). In the calendar year 2022, more than 1.25 crore new subscribers have enrolled in the scheme, as against 92 lakh new subscriber enrolment in 2021. The scheme was launched in May 2015, with the objective to provide old-age income security to all citizens, particularly to the people working in the unorganised sectors. The Bangladesh parliament establishes a framework for universal pensions. The adoption of Aadhaar based electronic-Know Your Customer (e-KYC) is witnessing continuous progress, and in the October-December quarter (Q3) of FY 2022-23, where more than 84.8 crores e-KYC transactions were executed using Aadhaar, registering a growth of 18.53% over the Q2 (July-September) of the current financial year. In December alone, about 32.49 crores of e-KYC transactions were carried out using Aadhaar, over 13% more than the previous month. Odisha health minister Naba Kishore Das, who was shot at from a close range by a police officer in Jharsuguda district, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday evening.
