A court in Surat in Gujarat on Thursday sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to two years in jail in a 2019 criminal defamation case filed against him over his “Modi surname” remarks. According to a study by the US Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, India can achieve energy independence by 2047, when it celebrates 100 years of independence. No study on effect of withdrawal of legal tender character of the Specified Bank Notes (SBNs) on Indian economy has been published by the Government. This was stated by the Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha.
