The Supreme Court, hearing a petition in the alleged irregularities in the Chandigarh mayoral elections, on Monday, ordered the production of ballot papers before it on Tuesday. The apex court directed the HC registrar general to depute a judicial officer to bring ballot papers and videos for its perusal and asked the administration to provide security to the judicial officer to ensure the safety of officers and records. The Centre has proposed an ‘out-of-the-box’ plan wherein government agencies will buy pulses, maize, and cotton crops at minimum support prices (MSP) for five years after signing an agreement with the farmers.
