The government is set to conduct the much-delayed Census next year, and to complete the process by 2026, with suggestions being taken on whether caste enumeration would be part of the exercise, as per sources. Following the completion of the Census, the government will go ahead with delimitation, for redrafting of constituencies. Sources said the rolling out of women’s reservation will follow. The number of Palestinians killed in the yearlong war in Gaza has passed 43,000, more than half of them women and children, the Palestinian Health Ministry said Monday. The tally includes 96 dead who arrived at hospitals in Gaza over the past two days, the ministry said. Israeli troops have launched an ongoing operation in northern Gaza that included a raid on a hospital over the weekend. With the arrest of two associates of Turkey-based drug smuggler Navpreet Singh aka Nav Bhullar, the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Punjab Police has made one of the biggest seizures of heroin during a massive operation in Baba Bakala area here on Saturday night. It confiscated 105 kg of heroin in addition to a huge quantity of scheduled drugs, including 31.93 kg Caffeine Anhydrous and 17 kg dextromethorphan (DMR) which is used for multiplying the quantity of contraband four times.
