Ram temple in Ayodhya will be ready January 1, 2024, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared in Tripura on Thursday. Addressing a public rally, the home minister alleged that the Congress has been obstructing the construction of Ram temple, in courts, but after the Supreme Court verdict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the process of construction of the temple.
He asked the crowd should the Ram temple be constructed in Ayodhya. He claimed that ever since the temple was destroyed by Mughal Emperor Babur, people have been wanting to restore it. However, ever since the Independence, the Congress has been trying to prevent the construction, he alleged.
“I was the BJP president in 2019, and Rahul Gandhi was the president of the Congress. Rahul Gandhi used to say the BJP was unable to give a specific date when the temple will be constructed. Listen to me, January 1, 2024, Ram temple will be constructed in Ayodhya,” he said.
“Rahul baba, listen from Sabroom that a mammoth Ram Mandir will be ready on January 1, 2024,” he said attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who is in the midst of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a 3500 kilometres long march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
After decades-long legal battle, the Supreme Court on November 9, 2019, paved the way for the construction of the Ram temple in the disputed site at Ayodhya, where Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992.
The prime minister performed the “Bhoomi puja” for the construction of the temple on August 5, 2020. The announcement is significant for the BJP as the general elections are scheduled to be held in 2024.
