Lashkar-e-Taiba chief and mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Hafiz Saeed, has been sentenced to 31 years in prison by an anti-terror court in Pakistan, on Friday.
Saeed has been sentenced in two cases. All his assets too will be seized. The court also imposed a fine of PKR 340,000 on the dreaded terrorist.The anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge Ejaz Ahmad Bhuttar handed down the jail term to Saeed in two FIRs – 21/2019 and 90/2019 registered by the Counter Terrorism Department of Punjab Police.
In the 21/19 and 99/21, he was sentenced for 15.5 years and 16.5 years, respectively. Saeed, a UN-designated terrorist, carries a bounty of $10 million on his head.
Earlier in five such cases, the 70-year-old cleric had already been convicted for 36 years imprisonment. The total sentence of imprisonment will run concurrently at a time.
Meanwhile, Indian government has declared Hafiz Talha Saeed, son of LeT founder and Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, also as terrorist.
