India Today predicts BJP-led NDA to win 296 LS seats, if polls are today

The leading publishing house India Today’s latest Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll predicted that if elections are held today, BJP-led NDA would win as many as 296 seats, of which BJP alone would win 271 seats. 

It also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi got top performance ratings in all the poll-bound states, except Punjab.  MOTN is a bi-annual nationwide survey conducted by the India Today Group. The findings of the Mood of the Nation survey are usually released every January and August. 

PM Modi’s performance in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Manipur — the four poll-bound states — has scored 50 per cent and above. 

PM Modi’s performance in Uttar Pradesh received a whopping 75 per cent votes in the Good category, nine per cent in the Average category and 16 per cent in the Good category. Whereas, in Uttarakhand, PM Modi’s performance has scored 59% in the Good category, 16 per cent in the Average category, while 20 per cent in the Poor category

Coming to Goa, a 67% share is of the opinion that PM Modi’s performance is good, 13 per cent are in the Average category and 20 per cent in the Poor category. In Manipur, 73 per cent think PM Modi’s performance is good, eight per cent think it is average, while 18 per cent think it is poor.

However, in Punjab, only 37 per cent said the performance was good, while 44 per cent were of the opinion that it was poor.

 Ahead of the assembly polls, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gets a thumbs up in the Nation poll, with 49 per cent approval points.

The MOTN 2022 poll reveals that 53% of people think PM Modi is best suited to be the next prime minister of India. He was followed by Rahul Gandhi with 7 per cent.  

As per the MOTN poll results, Mamata Banerjee is the best suited political leader to lead the Opposition in India. , with 17 per cent votes. She edged out Aravind Kerjiwal (16 per cent) and  Rahul Gandhi (11 per cent)for a top position among opposition parties. 

As per the survey results, 59 per cent of people are satisfied with the performance of the NDA. In the August 2021 poll, the number had fallen to 53 per cent. According to 22% of people, the biggest achievement of the current NDA government is the handling of the pandemic.

 Sixteen percent of people believe the government’s biggest achievement is the building of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and 12 per cent think it is the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
