A Vijayawada court on Sunday extended the judicial custody of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu till October 5 in the skill development scam case even as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the state police questioned him for the second day.
Naidu was produced before the Anti-Corruption Bureau virtually from Rajahmundry Central Jail. The judge enquired from Naidu if he was subjected to any third-degree method during the questioning. The court will take up his bail petition for hearing on Monday.
The CID on Sunday questioned the TDP leader for the second day after the ACB court granted the agency two days’ custody of the 73-year old leader for further interrogation in the case.
Naidu was arrested on September 9, for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, leading to a purported loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.
The TDP chief on Saturday moved the Supreme Court after the Andhra Pradesh High Court rejected his petition for quashing the FIR against him in connection with the alleged scam. The high court dismissed his petition on Friday, saying the court was not inclined to interfere at this stage when the investigation was ongoing.
